Music Appreciation
One of our goals in using Classical and Christian methodology is to promote all that is True, Good, and Beautiful in this world, While the Three R's (Reading, Writing, and 'Rithmetic) help to promote all three of these goals, the so-called Fourth R, (Art), brings a more full orbed understanding to that which we would call Beautiful. As home educators we are almost always diligent in teaching our children the Three R's. Ought not we be equally diligent in exposing them to that aspect of education that includes Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Music, Dance, Singing, and/or Architecture?

Another way of looking at this is that a life without Art education is like trying to sit on a three-legged stool that ismissing one leg. It certainly ispossible to balance on the stool with only the Truth and Goodness legs in tact, but a fully stable experience is possible when we add a strong and sturdy "Beauty" leg. We believe that this "leg" can only be really sturdy when our children are exposed to an arts education as well. We hope you see this as well.
