When we receive your completed Family Profile Questionnaire, completed placement tests (if required), a sample of written work from the previous year, we will set up a complete course of study for your family and confirm curriculum and material costs via a telephone consultation. We will then send course materials to you as soon as possible. (Allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery)
Included with your materials will be a guide book containing general guidelines, a sample weekly schedule to help you get started, daily planning pages for record keeping and other homeschooling helps.
Monitoring (if you have chosen this option) will consist of progress reports based on sample pages of the student's work collected by us 3 times each school year. Your children will receive a written report summarizing their progress in each area of study.
Enrolment for monitored students - English and History - $110.00 per course
Enrolment for all other courses - $100 per course
Estimated cost of materials will range from $300 - $600 per year
Some of our students enrol with us for the first time during their high school years. To properly place them and understand more fully their strengths and weaknesses, students will send us a completed Family Profile Questionnaire, a Math placement test (if required) , a recent writing sample and any other pertinent information.
We recommend that those enrolled in Tree of Life’s high school program full time complete a minimum of 28 credits. Course selections are made based on the number of credits needed from each of the course groupings. For example, students need a minimum of four courses from the English group; three from each of the Math, History, Science, Bible/Worldview, Language, and Logic/Rhetoric groups; and two from the Electives group; plus four of any other courses. This arrangement allows for a broad based educational experience that remains true to the classical approach.
Final selection of courses is made following a telephone conference before the beginning of each school year. Students enrolled in Tree of Life prior to high school, may be eligible to purchase courses on an individual basis to gain advanced credits toward the high school requirements.
Monitoring for these courses will consist of tests administered by the student’s parent, as well as essays and reports submitted to Tree of Life for evaluation and comment. Tree of Life School will provide you with a transcript of marks each year, and a certificate upon completion of 28 credits. *Please note that Tree of Life School is not an accredited institution and has no plans to seek this status. We advise students to keep a portfolio of their work to use when applying to universities or colleges. We also suggest that students write the SAT’s, college entrance exams, or another recognised standard achievement test if required.
Many of our students are actually part-time enrolees. They find that some of our courses compliment their present course load. Others seek feedback in particular areas from a third party source to make sure students are on the right track.
We also welcome students to purchase our courses along with the Course of Study Outline without being monitored by us, but there may, in some cases, be a small charge for the course outline. We are presently working on more user-friendly course outlines that will come complete with detailed answer keys. Some of these are now available. Call for availability.
Credits completed from other sources may be transferable. Please provide us with evidence of course completion and a basic outline as to the nature of the content.
Students who take our Great Ideas courses will receive 3 credits for each level successfully completed. These credits are understood to take the place of our normal course work in English, History, and Bible. It is suggested that the students also take courses in Math, Science, Logic/Rhetoric, Languages, and pursue other areas of interest for a comprehensive educational experience.
Cost for each level of the Great Ideas curriculum will be as follows:
Tuition - $275
Binder material - $55
Books - Cost varies depending on the level studied and the books student may have available.
